Blavity was founded in 2014 around a simple idea: enable Black Millennials to tell their own stories. Today, we average 1 Million monthly unique visitors, generate 10 Million monthly social impressions, and distribute our message across all of the major social media platforms. We are on the lookout for the newest member of our team.

The Office Manager will be an integral part of Blavity's day-to-day operations. They will work under the direction of the Executive Assistant to the CEO, with a focus on developing initiatives around internal office support. The Office Manager will be responsible or managing their own projects with direction and leadership development provided by the Executive Assistant to the CEO. The position is based in Los Angeles (DTLA).



-Point person for maintenance, mailing, shipping, supplies, equipment and errands

-Organize and schedule meetings and appointments upon request

-Monitor and maintain office supplies inventory; Review and approve office supply acquisitions

-Responsible for daily office maintenance including office/kitchen upkeep, watering plants, swag inventory, etc.

-Provide general support to visitors; Handle customer inquiries and complaints

-Ensure office efficiency is maintained by carrying out planning and execution of equipment procurement, layouts and office systems

-Determine current trends and provide a review to management to act on

-Responsible for recruiting intern staff, organizing & providing orientation to new employees; Organize orientation and training of new staff members

-Participate actively in the planning and execution of company events; coordinate office staff activities to ensure maximum efficiency

-Responsible for developing standards and promoting activities that enhance operational procedures

-Allocate available resources to enable successful task performance

-Ordering group meals and office celebrations

-Design and implement filing systems & record keeping; Ensure filing systems are maintained and current, ensuring security, integrity and confidentiality of data

-Design, organize and implement office policies, operations and procedures; oversee adherence to office policies and procedures

-Maintain a safe and secure working environment



-Six months - three years of experience

-Independent, self-starter who is comfortable taking on a high level of responsibility

-Comfort with ambiguity and a proven love for transforming unorganized/complex data into structured, insight-oriented solutions

-High-energy, company first, positive attitude: Must be motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environment

-Excellent communication and analytical skills; Outgoing and sociable; willing to wear multiple hats

-Naturally detail oriented, with an obsessive need to document and communicate findings

-Resourceful, adaptable

-A conscientious approach and desire to always meet the highest of standards

-Thinks strategically and big picture
