Gimlet media tells stories through audio. Our roster of podcasts includes newly-launched, critically-acclaimed shows like Homecoming, Heavyweight, and Science Vs. We’re also home to perennial favorites Reply All and StartUp. We are looking for ambitious, curious, talented, and kind people to join our team.
We come from diverse backgrounds, brought together by the desire to make amazing things, and a shared belief in working hard, embracing creativity, and supporting one another. At Gimlet, good ideas matter more than titles. People who tackle problems with creative solutions, and who love the energy of a collaborative, team-oriented creative process thrive here.
Gimlet offers a comprehensive slate of benefits. We cover 100% of employee and family premiums for medical and dental insurance, and we offer vision insurance at a low cost. Other benefits include pre-tax commuter, medical and dependent care FSA accounts, 401(k), unlimited vacation, and an annual training reimbursement.
Gimlet Media is hiring a Web Developer to support our technologically-driven efforts. The ideal candidate should have a keen interest in understanding how to grow podcast audiences and in understanding how technology can help power our growth. This person should also be an efficient systems thinker and have a well-rounded understanding of the cost-to-produce web-based applications vs. opportunities presented. Ultimately, we are looking for someone who is passionate about creating tools that will help us build our overall podcasting audience and who's eager to gain valuable learnings from our current offerings.
What You’ll Do
The Web Developer will report to the Design Director and will be responsible for supporting our website, data warehouse, and voice skills. Your main responsibility will be to build new features and support the Ruby on Rails application that powers GimletMedia.com.
In addition to working on the website, you’ll also own our data warehouse. This is currently where we store all of the raw data we collect from various listening platforms. Your main responsibility will be making this data more accessible and available for the rest of the company to learn from. This may be by the creation of dashboards and/or other tools.
Lastly, you’ll be helping to support Gimlet’s efforts working on smart speaker voice platforms like Alexa and Google Home. You’ll be digging into the data of how our current skills are performing, helping creative teams come up with ideas for new voice products, and working with outside contractors to get the skills built.
