Blavity is changing the landscape of media representation by building the world’s largest digital community for Millennials of Color. Blavity was founded in 2014 around a simple idea: Enable Millennials of Color to tell their own stories.



Today, we average 1.5 Million monthly unique visitors, generate 3-5 Million monthly social impressions, and distribute our message across all of the major social media platforms. We are based in Downtown LA with team members working across the world.



We’re looking for a People Manager to help us find new people and insure their success at Blavity. This role is located in our DTLA office and some work can be done remotely.



Responsibilities



Full lifecycle recruiting: Hire for a fast paced and high-growth environment and grow our team

Drive the interview process and offer process, including reference checks, salary recommendations and closing of candidates

Coordinate recruiting activities and manage on-site job interviews

Manage the new hire on-boarding process, from paperwork to laptops and first day

Coach managers in leadership, communication and feedback, career path, succession planning, performance management, and compliance

Ensure everyone on the team has the workstation supplies and setup they need to be productive

Document and suggest improvements for HR processes and procedures

Provide regular day-to-day guidance to managers and staff around ad-hoc HR and employment issues

Provide training in compliance, sensitivity, and harassment

Anticipate the team’s needs and adapt as the company grows

Guide new team members through their first day and their time at Blavity

Requirements



4+ years of progressive HR or People Operations experience within high-growth companies

PHR-CA/SPHR-CA designation preferred

Bachelor's degree with emphasis in HR or equivalent combination of degree and experience

Experience administering full employee lifecycle from hire to separation; performance management, leaves of absence, relocation, and etc.

Experience with compensation, stock option and benefits plan administration

Approachable, empathetic person with sound judgment and problem solving ability

Excellent communication skills: interpersonal, relationship building, consulting, and teamwork

Strong creative and interpersonal skills

Willingness and passion for doing the hard work
