Fatherly is looking for a Senior Designer to help develop our brand’s aesthetic across all touchpoints—mobile web, desktop, social media, and marketing materials—from pixel-perfect iconography and engaging illustrations to calls-to-action. You love to get into the nitty-gritty on execution and turn ideas into fresh, memorable visuals. You have a keen interest in publishing and digital technology, strong visual design expertise and a solid understanding of interaction design principles. Fatherly generated over a billion video views in the last year was named one of Oprah’s favorite website of 2016, and won the 2017 Webby Award for “Best Parenting Site on the Internet”. Fatherly is backed by BDMI, UTA, SoftTech VC, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, The Knight Foundation and prominent angels such as Gary Vaynerchuk and the founders of Bleacher Report, among others. Responsibilities: Responsible for all aspect of web and graphic design for Fatherly Lead creative vision, while also being very hands-on pixel level design work Effectively maintain the Fatherly brand aesthetics through imagery, motion, print, and presentations. Push brand identity forward and maintain design standards. Conceptualize and design solutions that meet or exceed strategic objectives Create for visual layout of web pages and other consumer-facing Fatherly content experiences Extend existing brand visuals in new and exciting ways, onto social platforms and into mobile experiences Collaborate with Fatherly’s video team to design motion graphic video assets and experience and with Fatherly’s editorial team to design unique graphical features Coordinate with account team to affirm creative objectives, discuss effective creative direction, and ensure brand consistency and high standards of creative execution for the development of brand materials. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in graphic design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 3-6 years of digital/interactive design experience, including UI/UX experience Experience designing for desktop, mobile, and social media. Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, InDesign) Basic understanding of the capabilities and limitations of HTML, CSS, Javascript A passion for strong, clean, usable design. Keen understanding of typography, color, graphics, and layout. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, fluid environment, handling a variety of assignments and technologies, and needs to be as fluent in functional design as they are in visual storytelling. Imaginative and fast thinking with the ability to create engaging designs that communicate, inform, and persuade. Ability to map basic UI flows and identify common use cases and scenarios Ability to carry a project from conceptual development to refinement to production-ready quality Ability to refine concepts into presentations with strong visuals and imagery representative of the concept(s) Ability to work efficiently on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines Strong articulation skills; ability to establish a perspective and strategy behind design decisions Practiced at providing thoughtful feedback, accepts and resolves critique gracefully Solid experience presenting design work to senior stakeholders and addressing feedback Ability to draw from data analytics to uncover behavioral insights and inform design decisions How To Apply Please email your resume and briefly introduce yourself in the email, and please connect your experience directly to the responsibilities and qualifications required for this position.
