Director, Research Analyst at One Concern

We are One Concern, a startup based in Palo Alto. We specialize in Artificial Intelligence for Disasters. Our platform empowers the most critical decisions during the first moments of a crisis.

With our team of global disaster scientists and engineers, we have built a product which help disaster and emergency rescue teams prepare and react.

One Concern is growing rapidly and we are looking for passionate, motivated, and ambitious people to join our team. Our engineering challenges are unique, so you should be comfortable in uncharted territory and excited to create systems that can support cities of 100,000 and 10 million people alike.

We are looking for a Director-level Research, Market or Business Analyst professional who specializes in market research, segmentation, competitive intelligence and analysis and who ideally has a background in consulting. We want an expert in discovering micro-level details to macro-level trends to support our overall marketing and business strategy.

The ideal candidate will be able to creatively connect the dots between global social issues -- climate change, social inequality, and disaster relief -- and how our platform can help our customers to solve these issues. The ideal candidate also will be able to ensure that we remain focused on the right segments, geographies, and partners. The role reports into the Head of Marketing and Communications.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Lead market segmentation, market analysis, and customer profiles to help validate and prioritize marketing strategy
Lead competitive intelligence and analysis to ensure we’re always positioned as the market leader
Analyze data related to business growth, user behavior, marketing campaigns, and product usage to identify opportunities for One Concern
Assess the impact and benchmark the performance of our overall marketing effort and provide recommendations on how to optimize for success
Turn raw information into insights, recommendations, dashboards, and reports to provide ad-hoc reporting and analytics services and proactively support business decisions and processes
Be the expert on best practices and leading-edge technology to support the team
Manage internal and external resources, as appropriate.
Key Requirements Include:

Mission-driven mindset
5 - 10 years experience working with data analytics and/or consulting
Proven ability to analyze data and develop business insights to provide recommendations for internal stakeholders
A demonstrated history of conducting quantitative analyses that have driven valuable change or optimization in a business context
Structure complex, ambiguous business questions and utilize strong analytical skillset to drive insightful analysis using internal and external data (e.g. revenue, product, market, industry, user behavior, external customer surveys) to answer key business questions raised by the team
Analyze trends within segments and geographies to identify trends and potential opportunities
Able to quickly design user and audience surveys to help validate market approach
A self-proclaimed data jockey

Bonus Points if You Have

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, Statistics, or other quantitative field
Master's’ Degree or higher preferred
Business consulting or venture capital experience
A strong professional network of meaningful relationships
Experience outside of the Bay Area or the US.
