Backend Engineer at One Concern

We are One Concern, a startup based in Palo Alto. We specialize in Artificial Intelligence for Disasters. Our platform empowers the most critical decisions during the first moments of a crisis.

With our team of global disaster scientists and engineers, we have built a product which help disaster and emergency rescue teams prepare and react.

One Concern is growing rapidly and we are looking for passionate, motivated, and ambitious engineers to join our team. Our engineering challenges are unique, so you should be comfortable in uncharted territory and excited to create systems that can support cities of 100,000 and 10 million people alike.

You will be in charge of maintaining the ecosystem as it evolves. You will be working on mission critical projects across their entire lifecycle, starting with product ideation, infrastructure design, development, testing and deployment.

5+ industry experience in architecture and development of scalable production quality backend systems
Strong understanding of system performance and scaling
Ability to solve problems that span multiple interconnected systems
Experience working with web frameworks like Ruby on Rails, Node.JS, Flask, etc
Strong knowledge of databases, both SQL and NoSQL, and their performance issues
Tested software components for usability, functionality and performance
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Points if You Have
Experience building and productionizing innovative end-to-end Machine Learning systems
Experience with large datasets
Knowledge of Amazon Web Services
Comfortable with HTML, CSS and Javascript
B.S/M.S in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics
